Yum! Family Series Program and Stage One: The Louisville Children's Theatre kick off the 2009-2010 season of theater for young audiences at the Bomhard Theater, The Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts.

Stage One opens the season and celebrates our neighborhoods with Busytown! Busytown is always buzzing with activity. But what do people do all day? Just ask Huckle Cat! Based on the wildly popular children's series by Richard Scarry, join Huckle Cat on a tour of his great neighborhood, with so much to see and do, and so many wonderful friends to visit. Learn how Farmer Pig and Grocer Cat work together to bring food to the town, how Construction Worker and his crew build new houses, and how Firechief and the gang keep them safe. It's wonderful here in Busytown, don't miss the trip! Recommended for ages 4 - 8, Busytown is presented October 24 at 10 am and 2 pm, and November 7 at 10 am and 2 pm.

Greek Tragedy just got a facelift as Stage One presents Antigone, October 23 at 7 pm. It takes guts to stand up to the most powerful man in the country; especially when you're 15. After both of her brothers kill each other in opposing sides of a war, Antigone dares to defy her uncle, King Creon, by burying her 'traitor' brother. When Creon discovers that Antigone has performed the burial despite his command, he orders her to be walled up in a cave alive thus starving her to death. Will his orders be met, or can the pleading of Antigone's sister and fiancée change the mind of Creon? Experience the powerful twists and turns of this modernized Greek tragedy. Recommended for ages 10 and up

Back for another year, the Herdman's return in The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, November 28, December 5, December 12 (times vary by day). These siblings are the worst kids in the whole history of the world, and now they have bullied their way into the church's annual Christmas pageant. Experience the spirit of the season with this classic holiday production!

On February 6 at 10 am and 2 pm, and February 27 at 10 am and 2 pm Stage One presents the musical If You Give a Pig a Party, based on the popular "If You Give"...book series. If you give a pig a party, she's going to ask for some balloons. When you give her the balloons, she'll want to decorate the house. When she's finished, she'll put on her favorite dress. Then she'll call all her friends Mouse, Moose, and more. Come join Stage One's party and have some fun with pig and friends. Recommended for Ages 4-8

Stage One presents the winner of many national awards, John Lennon & Me, March 5 at 7 pm. This uproarious play about life, death, power and first boyfriends was adapted from the popular book, Good-bye, Best Friend. Hollywood-wannabe Star, the ultimate teenage Beatles fan, has been guaranteed a young death by cystic fibrosis. She spends most of her time in the hospital, where she confronts reality with her imagination. When Star's new roommate Courtney arrives, Star judges her as a pretty cheerleader who apparently is not very sick. Neither girl knows much about the other's world, but eventually they come to understand each other, and ultimately, themselves. This is a powerful play about the power of friendship and living life to the fullest is a must see for any middle and high school student. Presented in partnership with The Children's Hospital Foundation. Recommended for Ages 10 and up

The season closes with the musical sensation, You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, April 24 at 10 am and 2 pm, and May 8 at 10 am and 2 pm. Join Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Linus, Lucy and the whole gang on a purely average day filled with life, laughter, and a little baseball! Featuring all time favorite musical numbers "My Philosophy" and "Suppertime", You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown is a Tony Award winning production that celebrates the innocence and spirit of early childhood and the friends that come with it. Sponsored by PNC. Recommended for Ages 5 and up.
