3-D Theatricals of Los Angeles County and Orange County is pleased to present Monty Python's Tony Award-winning musical comedy SPAMALOT August 4 - 13 at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center (with an official press opening of August 5); and August 18 - 27, 2017 at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts.

Spamalot's Book & Lyrics are by Eric Idle with Music by John Du Prez & Eric Idle. The musical was lovingly ripped off from the motion picture MONTY PYTHON and the Holy Grail, an original screenplay by Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin.

ABOUT SPAMALOT: Rude Frenchmen, cancan dancers, the Lady of the Lake and her Laker Girls, killer rabbits, catapulting cows, and the somewhat odd Knights who say "ni" are just part of the adventures and dangers awaiting King Arthur and his knights of the very very very round table in their quest for the holy grail.

Spamalot's irreverent parody of the Arthurian legend garnered 14 Tony Award nominations, winning three, including Best New Musical. During its initial Broadway engagement in 2005, it was seen by more than two million people. In addition to its original in New York and the UK's West End, along with three North American tours, Spamalot has played to enthusiastic audiences in Australia, Switzerland, Canada, New Zealand, Spain, Germany, Hungary, Sweden, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Mexico, Japan, South Korea, Norway, and Poland.

There are - if only briefly - references to "Monty Python's Flying Circus" skits, The Lumberjack Song, Spam, and the Dead Parrot Sketch, while some of Broadway's musicals are skewered along the way including a spoof of Andrew Lloyd Webber, Fiddler on the Roof, West Side Story, Man of La Mancha, Les Miserables, and The Producers.

DISCLAIMER:

Spamalot pokes fun at almost everyone and everything, even Broadway musicals. It is most appropriate for children 12 and older who can appreciate the unique Pythonesque sense of humor that -without apology - can appear cheeky, impertinent, irreverent, disrespectful, and sometimes just plain rude...but to the sophisticated and discerning eye, it is silliness raised to an art form and all in good fun. But, please, if you are easily offended, take King Arthur's advice and "Run away!"

In an interview with the Las Vegas Review-Journal John Cleese (founding member of Monty Python) said, "I defy anyone to go and not have a really fun evening. It's the silliest thing I've ever seen."
