The St. Petersburg Times is reporting that the new musical 'Wonderland: Alice's New Musical Adventure' underwent a rewrite before its Houston opening on Wednesday, January 20. The rewrite came on the heels of the musical's run at Tampa's Straz Center for the Performing Arts, which served to gauge the audience's reaction to the material.

"One thing we learned from the Tampa process was what was clear and what was not clear to the audiences," said Judy Lisi, president of the Straz Center for the Arts, in the story in the St. Petersburg Times. "The story line had to be worked on quite a bit."

The new book features tweaks to the story line, as well as includes four new songs.

Wonderland will play a limited engagement at the Alley Theatre in Houston, Texas, beginning Jan. 15, 2010. For more information, visit www.alleytheatre.org.

'Wonderland' is set in present-day Manhattan and a timeless Wonderland. The new musical tells the story of author Alice Cornwinkle (a descendent of Lewis Carroll's muse Alice Liddell), who is struggling with her career, her husband Jack and her daughter Chloe. Audiences will journey with Alice to Wonderland and the Looking-Glass World ? strange-yet-familiar places where she must reclaim her daughter, defeat the Queen and learn to follow her heart.
