A. D. Players to Present GOLD, FRANKINCENSE, CHRISTMAS TREE ORNAMENTS, AND MYRRH, 11/20-12/29

A. D. Players will celebrate Christmas on their Mainstage with Gold, Frankincense, Christmas Tree Ornaments, and Myrrh by Thomas Ohlson, a unique take on the classic nativity story. The play will preview November 20th and 21st, open November 22nd, and run through December 29th.

Gold, Frankincense, Christmas Tree Ornaments, and Myrrhis a warm and witty retelling of the nativity story and the boyhood of Christ. Originally presented Off-Broadway in 1964, it starred a then young Christopher Lloyd as one of the wise men.

"I love that it is a wonderfully enjoyable Christmas play that asks big questions," explained Director Sarah Cooksey.

In the play, when a star appears in the sky, a fourth wise man and his servant boy set out to find the king whose birth has been foretold. Comically planning along the way how best to capitalize on the momentous occasion, they arrive in Bethlehem, but will the wise man find what he is looking for? Five actors bring to life a variety of characters in this unique play that alternates between comedy and poignant drama.

"I hope audiences will come to laugh and have a great time and leave with a deeper appreciation for the meaning of Christmas," Cooksey said.

The cast of Gold, Frankincense, Christmas Tree Ornaments, and Myrrh includes A. D. Players' resident actors Craig Griffin as First Actor, Braden Hunt as Second Actor, and A. D. Players' Intern Kurt Bilanoski as Third Actor. Guest Artists include Leslie Lenert as Actress and Michael Eaton as Boy.

Gold, Frankincense, Christmas Tree Ornaments, and Myrrh features scenic and lighting design by Mark A. Lewis, properties design by Trisha Wise, sound design by Orlando Arriaga, and costume design by Patty Tuel Bailey.

Gold, Frankincense, Christmas Tree Ornaments, and Myrrh is directed by Sarah Cooksey. Hannah Smith is the Stage Manager.
