Honolulu Theatre for Youth caps its 61st season with the world premiere of H2O, THE STORY OF WATER AND HAWAII, a musical by the HTY company that will immerse audiences in a celebration of our most precious resource.

H2O, THE STORY OF WATER AND HAWAII opens Friday April 8 at 7 p.m., then plays Saturdays, April 9, 16, 23, 30 and May 7 at 4:30 p.m. It is recommended for ages 5 and up. All shows are at Tenney Theatre. Single tickets are $20 for adults (age 18-59), $15 for seniors (age 60+) and $10 for youth (age 2-17). American Sign Language-interpreted/sensory-friendly show is Saturday, April 23 at 2 p.m. Tickets at www.htyweb.org or 839-9885.

"This is one of the most ambitious and exciting projects HTY has ever produced," Director Eric Johnson said. "We are surrounded by water. Our bodies are made primarily of water. We drink it, play in it, depend on it for life, but how many of us really understand the stories and the science behind this important substance?" Set on a stage designed as a giant H2O molecule, the sweeping musical floods the senses as our cast of "Water Warriors" (alternately scientists, activists and rock stars) explores the cultural, historical, environmental and physical properties of water through song, humor and interactive story telling.

Actors are Alvin Chan, Sean-Joseph Choo, Moses Goods, Maile Holck, Junior Tesoro and Christina Uyeno. Assistant director is Nathaniel Niemi. Set designer is Jennifer Eccles; lighting and projection designer is Chesley Cannon; costume designer is Cheryl Flaherty; sound designer is Paul James Prendergast; music composers are Alvin Chan, Sean-Joseph Choo and Matthew Mazzella.

Honolulu Theatre for Youth is Hawaii's non-profit professional theatre company providing theatre and drama education programs that make a difference in the lives of Hawaii's young people and families. Founded in 1955, HTY is recognized the world over as one of America's most honored theatres.
