Breakdown

Cervantes/Don Quixote/Alonso Quijana:
Strong Singer/Actor, 40 to 50, Baritone. A prisoner of the Spanish Inquisition, put on trial by his fellow prisoners. He is an actor, playwright and idealist. He tells the story of Don Quixote - a romantic with a vision of a noble world where courage and honor reign, contrary to the world he finds himself in.

Sancho Panza/Prisoner:
Strong Actor/Singer, 30 to 60, Tenor. Don Quixote’s manservant. He is a faithful and local servant devoted to Don Quixote despite Quixote’s idiosyncratic nature.

Aldonza/Dulcinea:
ROLE IS CAST. Strong Singer/Actress, 30-40. Soprano/Belter with great versatility between registers. A serving woman and prostitute at the inn. She is fiery and rough, yet vulnerable. yearns to believe that she is the woman Don Quixote sees.
This production is using a reduced cast.

Additional Actors who are cast will be playing multiple roles among the following:

The Innkeeper/Governer: The leader of the prison inmate society as well as the Innkeeper in Quixote’s Tale.

Dr. Carrasco/The Duke: In the prison, the Governor’s sidekick. Within Quixote’s tale Antonia’s fiancé, a doctor who believes Don Quixote to be mad.

The Padre: Strong Singer, Tenor. Don Quixote’s Confessor.

Antonia: Strong Singer, Mezzo-Soprano. Don Quixote’s niece and fiancee of Dr. Carrasco

The Housekeeper: Strong Singer, Mezzo-Soprano. Don Quixote’s housekeeper

The Barber: Strong Singer, Tenor. Itinerant Barber. Must have great comedic timing.

Maria: The Innkeeper’s wife

Fermina: A Servant Girl

Pedro: The head muleteer. A rough and vicious man.
