Breakdown

POZ
World Premiere
By Michael Ahman
Directed by Michael Leeds
Rehearsals start Oct. 6th , 2014
Runs Oct. 23rd – Nov. 23rd , 2014

Synopsis: POZ is a “dramady” that concerns a young man in 2003 with tuberculosis who discovers that if he was HIV+ he would be covered by insurance. He arranges to date an HIV+ man with the idea of being infected. The play examines an unconventional love between the two men and an odd family of characters each dealing with their own demons: a famous aging actress struggling with asthma, an eccentric woman who speaks with angels, a middle aged flamboyant queen with a dying father, and a young man who died of AIDS early in the health crisis.

Seeking:

Catherine:
late 50s-60s, an elegant actress with a dry sense of humor that covers her overly generous heart.

Edison:
a young man in his early 20s. Exuberant, a bit naive but full of optimism.

Robert:
50 years old. Good looking, in a rut he likes to call life. HIV Positive.

Oscar:
old-school fabulous man in his early 50s. He pretends to be bitter but it’s part of the act.

Maia:
50s, an extremely intelligent woman who speaks with angels – on the cusp of becoming an eccentric.

Arthur:
a handsome man, witty, in his 30s – at least he looks like he is because that’s how old he was when he died.

OCTOPUS
South Florida Premiere
Written by Steve Yorkey
Directed by Andy Rogow
Rehearsals start Monday January 12th , 2015
Runs January 29th – February 29th, 2015

Synopsis: After young couple Kevin and Blake engage in an adventurous and hastily planned night of group sex with the older, more “experienced” Max and Andy, they are left trying to salvage their relationship from a pummeling mix of jealousy, betrayal, telegrams from a soaking wet delivery boy and a ravenous sea monster from the ocean floor. This universal love story rendered through a post-modern gay lens slips from domestic comedy into a darkly fantastic fable examining the role and depth of commitment in relationships and what it really means to say the words “I love you.”

Seeking:

Kevin:
a man, 20s, handsome, bright, rational, arrogant, reckless, brief nudity

Blake:
a man, 20s, witty, innocence and care, maybe a bit hipster, brief nudity

Max:
a man, 30s, polished, but somewhat like a predatory cat, brief nudity

Andy:
a man, 40s, fit, confident, and suspending disbelief, brief nudity

Telegram Delivery Boy:
a younger man, an idea of youth, beauty and vitality all wrapped in a tight, snappy outfit; a slice of Americana; but there is something darker underneath
