CONTRACT

Off Broadway Periodic Performance Contract; $17/hr for rehearsal (up to 36 hours/week), $85 per performance (3 to 4 perfs. a week) + 1 health/pension week every 6 performances

SEEKING

Equity actors for 4 roles available. 3 other roles have been cast but actors may be seen for possible replacements if needed.

PREPARATION

Please prepare a brief song in the traditional musical theatre/musical comedy realm. Something that shows humor and vocal versatility will be ideal. Bring picture and resume.

All roles call for legit singing. All women’s roles call for chest voice, head voice, and a smooth mix between the two.

[NATHAN]
Male, Caucasian, Jewish, 30s. Louis’ father. He is a doctor-- stern, and conservative. He is deeply concerned about his image and that of his family. Tenor/Baritone to G.

[ELEANOR]
Female, Caucasian, Jewish, 30s. Nathan’s wife. More modern in her sensibilities than her husband. Strong Belt for solos; mix for some ensemble singing

[ZELDA]
Female, Caucasian, Jewish, late 30s to early 40s. Louis’ grandmother-- a strong-willed matriarch of the family. Strong chest voice, but mix up to F.

[SHERRI]
Female, Caucasian, Jewish, 30s. Louis’s aunt and brother to Nathan. Loyal to a fault. She weathers life’s disappointments. A modern Job. Strong, rich chest voice, but also possessing a strong head voice to A.

[LOUIS]
Male, Caucasian, Jewish, 30s. Author of the memoir “Goldstein”. Confident and smart--but with a large chip on his shoulder. Also plays SAMMY: Simple, eager, and enthusiastic. Every bit the teenager, eager to begin life. Also plays THE MAN ON THE BOAT: A young Russian immigrant. Adventurous and optimistic. A teenager in love. Tenor to A. THIS ROLE IS CAST.

[LOUIE]
Male, Caucasian, Jewish, late 30s to early 40s. Louis’ grandfather. Possesses a strong veneer that crumbles under pressure and scrutiny. Baritone to F. THIS ROLE IS CAST.

[MIRIAM]
Female, Caucasian, Jewish, 20s to early 30s. Louis’ sister. The peacekeeper in the family. Sweet and caring. Bright, youthful chest voice, but also a rich mix. THIS ROLE IS CAST.
