The Des Moines Community Playhouse presents the geographical comedy, "Around the World in 80 Days," tonight, Apr. 10-26. Tickets may be purchased online at dmplayhouse.com, by phone at 515-277-6261, or at the Playhouse ticket office, 831 42nd St.

Raging typhoons! Runaway trains! Hold onto your seats for the original amazing race! Join fearless adventurer Phileas Fogg (Eric Olson) and his faithful manservant as they race to beat the clock. Fogg has agreed to an outrageous wager that puts both his fortune and his life at risk. With his inventive servant, Passepartout (Jason Rainwater), and a detective who thinks he's a robber on the run following his every step, Fogg sets out to circle the globe in an unlikely 80 days.

Danger, romance, and comical surprises abound in this whirlwind of a show as five actors portray 39 characters across seven continents.

The Playhouse cast, which includes Katie Hanson, Tyler Kirkholm, and Dakota Rachuy, is directed by John Viars.

The Playhouse is Iowa's oldest and largest producing theatre. Located at the 42nd Street exit of I-235, the theatre has presented a full season of shows since 1919 and also offers a wide variety of educational experiences including classes for ages 4 to adult, theatre trips to New York, and volunteer opportunities onstage and backstage.
