The Windham Theatre Guild is excited to be the first theatre in the area to present live on stage the fun-filled family summer production of Shrek The Musical opening Friday, July 18th at the Burton Leavitt Theatre, 779 Main Street, Willimantic.

Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks film that started it all, this wonderful show brings the hilarious story of everyone's favorite ogre to dazzling new life on the stage. In a faraway kingdom turned upside down, things get ugly when an unseemly ogre -- not a handsome prince -- shows up to rescue a feisty princess. Throw in a donkey who won't shut up, a bad guy with a SHORT temper, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you've got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there's one on hand...and his name is Shrek! It's part romance, part twisted fairy tale and all irreverent fun for everyone!

Bring the kids to one of the matinees dressed up as their favorite prince, princess, ogre or fairy tale character and they can join a parade withShrek and Fiona at intermission and get autographs after the show.

Shrek The Musical runs July 18, 19, 25, 26, 31, August 1 & 2 at 7:30pm and Sunday July 20 & 27 at 2pm at the Burton Leavitt Theatre. Tickets are $21 for adults, $18 for students and seniors, and $13 for children under 12. UCONN/ECSU/QVCC Students pay $12 with student ID.
