Tony Winner Cheryl Wiesenfeld Appointed to Silver Hill Hospital Board

Silver Hill Hospital has announced three new board members, and the appointment of four existing board members to new positions, including the appointment of a new Board of Directors Chair. Comprised of twenty-one members, the Silver Hill Board of Directors advises on Hospital fiduciary responsibilities, organization and planning. It also represents the community's interests in the Hospital's operations and ensures the Hospital fulfills its nonprofit mission of service.

"Our Board provides us with invaluable expertise that serves the Hospital and the community," says Dr. Sigurd Ackerman, President and Medical Director. "I look forward to continuing the work with Peter Orthwein as Chair, and know we can expect great things because of his leadership. I welcome the new board members David Hunt, Robert Kiely, and Cheryl Wiesenfeld, and anticipate that 2015-2016 to be a year of which we can all be proud."

Greenwich resident Mr. Orthwein joined the Silver Hill Board of Directors in 2005 as Chair of the Planning and Finance Committee, helping to guide the Hospital through its significant financial turnaround. In 2013, Mr. Orthwein was recognized with the Hospital's Visionary Award for his exemplary leadership.

Mr. Orthwein co-founded Thor Industries, the word's largest manufacturer of recreational vehicles in 1980. By 1986, Thor was listed on the New York Stock Exchange and is routinely recognized as one of the most admired and respected companies in the US.

New Appointments to Board of Directors

Cheryl Wiesenfeld

Known for her four Tony Awards, Ms. Cheryl Wiesenfeld is from Fairfield Connecticut. She began her theatre producing career in 1998, and since then has produced 18 Broadway and Off Broadway plays and musicals, including "The Heidi Chronicles", "All The Way", "Rocky", "Vanya, Sonia, Masha and Spike", "Porgy and Bess", "A Steady Rain", "Legally Blonde", "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels", "Night Mother", "Caroline or Change", "Elaine Stritch At Liberty" and "Hedda Gabler". She was the Executive Producer for the award winning film "Elaine Stritch: Shoot Me". Ms. Wiesenfeld has also won the Drama Desk, , Outer Critics and Lucille Lortel Awards. She speaks on theatre and producing at many schools and organizations, and is on the Board of Theater Resources Unlimited where she co-founded the TRU mentorship program. Other affiliations include the National Council of TCG and the Honorary Council of Long Wharf Theatre.

David Hunt

New Canaan resident, David Hunt, is a retired pension actuary for Hewitt Associates. He is the consummate New Canaan volunteer, actively contributing more local organizations that can possibly be listed, including the New Canaan Community Foundation where he served as Board President, Director and Vice President for Distributions; Former Chair and Board member of the United Way of New Canaan; honored with the Senior Men's Club of New Canaan's "Distinguished New Canaan Senior Man" award and Treasurer of the New Canaan Senior Center. Mr. Hunt and his wife, Sara, have been annual donors to Silver Hill Hospital since 1983.

Robert G. Kiely

From Madison, CT, Robert Kiely has extensive experience as a Hospital Chief Executive Officer, most recently as President/CEO of the Johns Hopkins Medicine, International Anadolu Medical Center in Istanbul, Turkey. Connecticut residents will recognize his twenty-year tenure as CEO of the Middlesex Health System. He is Past Chair of the Connecticut Hospital Association and of the New England Region for the Voluntary Hospitals of America. Mr. Kiely is a past member of the Joint Commission Standards Review, the organization responsible for hospital certification.

Additional Appointed Positions

Silver Hill also announces that the following existing Board members were elected to new positions: New Canaan residents Paul Lambdin and Sperry DeCew will now serve as Vice Chairman and Secretary, respectively. Fairfield resident Richard Gannon will serve as Treasurer.
