The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music has appointed Amy Dennison to serve as the first Assistant Dean of its Preparatory Department (CCM Prep). Dennison has served as the director of CCM Prep since 2001 and her new appointment reflects the growth of the program during the last decade.

Under Dennison’s tenure, CCM Prep’s programs have expanded to include learning and ensemble offerings for students of all ages. The program has also forged relationships with numerous area arts organizations and schools, increasing the visibility and outreach possibilities for the entire college. Earlier this year, CCM Prep began offering arts opportunities at UC Blue Ash College and dance classes at the nearby Mayerson Jewish Community Center.

“Performing arts education has changed dramatically in the last ten years. CCM Prep continues to transform its program to meet the needs of our students today without sacrificing the excellence for which CCM is so well known,” says Dennison.

Prior to her time at CCM, Dennison served as director of the Wyoming Fine Arts Center. She holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Eastern Michigan University, a Masters of Music from Michigan State University and, most recently, a Master of Music Education from CCM.

Dennison is the co-author of One Voice: Music and Stories in the Classroom. As a professional oboist, she performs with the Cincinnati Community Orchestra, the Con Brio Winds and Cabernet Cabaret and was featured on the most recent CD release of Cincinnati composer Rick Sowash.

Dennison is Chair of the Central Great Lakes Chapter of the National Guild for Community Arts Education. She also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Cincinnati Community Orchestra and the Cincinnati Children’s Choir.
