On Wednesday, November 14 at 7:30PM, Chicago's record-breaking Wicked will mark a new milestone as the curtain goes up on its 1,000th performance.  Breaking multiple box office records since opening, WICKED is the top grossing and longest running Broadway show in Chicago history and continually casts spell on Chicagoans and visitors from around the world night after night.  With 189 performances after November 14 still on-sale, the date will also celebrate the public on-sale for a new block of tickets covering performances from January 27 – April 27, 2008.

By the 1000th performance, Chicago's Wicked will have performed to over 2 million people and grossed over $140 million at the box office.  Even more remarkable is the production's growing status as a destination for tourists and visitors.  Wicked's audience in Chicago routinely represents all 50 states and many foreign countries.

The Chicago company of Wicked took the stage on Friday, June 24, 2005 at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts, Oriental Theatre, 24 West Randolph Street, and continues to perform in an open-run.  Tickets for Wicked range in price from $25 to $90 are on-sale at all Broadway In Chicago Box Offices (24 W. Randolph St., 151 W. Randolph St., 18 W. Monroe St.), through the Broadway In Chicago Ticket Line at (312) 902-1400, at all Ticketmaster ticket centers or online at ticketmaster.com.  Groups of 20 or more may receive a discount by calling (312) 977-1710.

"Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the land of Oz.  One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood.  The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular.  Wicked tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch," explain press notes.

Wicked currently has productions in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, London, Tokyo, Stuttgart and on National Tour.  Based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, Wicked has music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, book by Winnie Holzman, and musical staging by Wayne Cilento.  The production is directed by Joe Mantello.
