Following their critically acclaimed production of Quills, The Shadowmen Chicago presents An Adult Evening with Shel Silverstein, February 5 - 28, 2009 at Raven Theatre. This is the company Chicago Critic called "a welcome addition to the Chicago storefront theatre scene."

Welcome to the darkly comic world of Shel Silverstein, a world where nothing is as it seems and where the most innocent conversation can turn menacing in an instant. While Silverstein is best known for writing and illustrating children's literature, his plays offer insight in to his sly and often twisted sense of humor. The evening features five outstanding actors in eight hilarious and thought-provoking short plays.

And sometimes, it even rhymes!

"Shel Silverstein's body of children's literature is so iconic, yet most people have no idea he was a major contributor to Playboy magazine for many years," says producer Jordan Kohl. "An Adult Evening of Shel Silverstein is equally as zany, pointed, and poignant but significantly more perverse than his beloved childhood tales and poems. It is a joy to bring his other world to life for an audience that grew up with him."

The ensemble cast, each playing multiple roles, includes Amy Gorelow, Sarah Katz, Jordan Kohl, Joshua Leigh, and Craig Rennak. The production team includes Lavina Jadhwani (Director), Matthew Buettner (Set Designer/Technical Director), Christine Ferriter (Lighting Designer), Annie Simpson (Stage Manager) and Jordan Kohl (Producer/Costume Designer).

An Adult Evening with Shel Silverstein runs February 5 - 28, 2009 on the West Stage at Raven Theatre, 6157 N. Clark St., Chicago. Show times are 8:30 PM Thursdays, Fridays, & Saturdays. Tickets are available by calling 866-811-4111 or by visiting www.theatremania.com/chicago/. All seats are $12.

The Shadowmen strive to produce works which balance artistic relevance with entertainment, that find the equilibrium between the provocative and the commercially viable.
