The House Theatre of Chicago has been creating Amazing Feats of Storytelling for 10 years! Today, The House is thrilled to announce its most exciting season to date. The season begins with Cyrano. This new adaptation of the classic story of the world's greatest poet-swordsman, Cyrano De Bergerac, is written and directed by 4-time Jeff Award Winning director Matt Hawkins.

The House will then give Chicago its annual holiday hit, The Nutcracker, written by House Company Members Phillip Klapperich and Jake Minton. After opening as part of Steppenwolf's Visiting Company Initiative in 2007, The House's The Nutcracker continues to attract family audiences looking for a new holiday tradition in Chicago.

Then, to continue celebrating 10 years of original plays, The House will open an all-new production of its very first play, Nathan Allen's Death and Harry Houdini. The story of history's most famous magician and his life-long war against Death features the deadly escape The Water Torture Cell, performed by award-winning magician Dennis Watkins.

The House will close its phenomenal 10th year by doing what it does best: creating all-new, ensemble driven theater under the direction of Nathan Allen. The Iron Stag King is the beginning of Allen's new multi-year cycle blending Arthurian and Norse Folklore.

The Magic Parlour will run every Friday night through out the entire season. Award-winning, third-generation magician Dennis Watkins performs an hour-long set of intimate, classic magic and mind reading in Chicago's only weekly, late night magic show.

About The House Theatre of Chicago
Celebrating 10 years of Amazing Feats of Storytelling!

The House was founded in 2001 by a group of friends with the mission of exploring the ideas of Community and Storytelling in order to create a unique theatrical experience for audience members. Following more than a dozen world premiere productions, the House experienced breakout success in early 2007 with The Sparrow, which theater critic Chris Jones called, "Among the very best original theater pieces I've ever seen."

Since becoming eligible in 2004, The House has been nominated for 45 Joseph Jefferson Awards (17 wins) and became the first recipient of Broadway in Chicago's Emerging Theater Award in 2007. Now in its 10th year of producing original works, The House's performances can be seen at the Chopin Theatre in Wicker Park.
