THE COMRADES are pleased to announce its inaugural production and the Chicago premiere of MARY-KATE OLSEN IS IN LOVE by Mallery Avidon, opening Sunday March 13, at The Apollo Studio Theatre in Lincoln Park.

About the show: Grace is 27, married to her high-school sweetheart, makes good money, and should be way happier than she is. But her husband lost his job and now all he does is play Xbox and smoke pot and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen might be her best friends but maybe they only like her because she's their new target demographic. Or maybe...they're actually going to save her. A funny play about sad people.

The mission of The Comrades is to deliver fun, vibrant, and engaging stories that are relevant to a modern audience. Artistic Director Derek Bertelsen leads the new company and will direct its inaugural production. Founding company members include Alison Plott (Managing Director), Angela Horn (Director of Community Engagement), and Mike Newquist (Director of Communications).

"We have a ton of respect for the artists working in the Chicago theatre community, from the large Equity houses to the little basement theatres," Bertelsen says. "But we also see room for something fresh and different. We want to bring new stories to Chicago audiences. We're very excited to be producing the Chicago premiere of this off-off-Broadway play as our first show."
