The Appleseed Cast, Nap Eyes, CAAMP and More Among 2nd Wave Announced for Green Music Fest lineup

Previously announced headliners for Chicago's award-winning Green Music Fest are R&B rocker JD McPherson, alt-country rock group Lucero and Canadian alternative rock band July Talk.

June 10, South Stage
An American rock band that formed in 2010, Nothing self-released several EPs before signing to Relapse Records, and released their debut album, "Guilty of Everything" in March 2014. The follow-up album, "Tired of Tomorrow", was released on May 13, 2016. Known for their high energy and high-volume tracks, Nothing's sound is molded by the band's own experiences, from family troubles and personal tragedy to a string of bad luck that Murphy's Law would balk at.
Jay Som

22-year-old Melina Duterte is known as Jay Som and solidifies her reputation as a self-made force of sonic splendor and emotional might. Duterte is as DIY as ever-writing, recording, playing, and producing every sound beyond a few backing vocals. With a range of sound stretching from wedding lo-fi rock to hi-fi home orchestration, Som weaves evocative autobiographical poetry into energetic punk, electrified folk and dreamy alt-funk.
The Appleseed Cast

Formed in Lawrence, Kansas in 1997, The Appleseed Cast released the first album in 1998 and have since released seven albums, including their newest "Illumination Ritual in April". The American rock band was founded in the early days of emo by singer-guitarist Christopher Crisci and guitarist Aaron Pillar, and quickly grew to fame. The Appleseed Cast has steadily evolved over the release of eight full-length albums with Crisci at the songwriting helm, changing lineups but never breaking up, continuing to hone the TAC sound. TAC's predominantly guitar-based music has morphed from an early "emo" sound with an ethereal, yet punk sensibility to an indie rock sound hinging on intricate drumming and crowd-loving vocals.
Erika Wennerstrom (of Heartless Bastards)

Erika Wennerstrom is best known as the lead singer and songwriter of Heartless Bastards. After spending the past decade touring with her band and pushing their unique brand of rock n' roll into new shapes over five acclaimed albums, Wennerstrom is taking some time off to explore new directions and work on her upcoming solo album.
Nap Eyes

Hailing from Nova Scotia, Nap Eyes makes crooked, literate guitar pop refracted through the gray Halifax rain. Recorded live to tape with no overdubs, their songs are equal parts shambling and sophisticated, with one eye on the dirt and one trained on the starry firmament. Following the July 2015 reissue of their 2014 debut "Whine of the Mystic," Nap Eyes released an album of all-new material entitled "Thought Rock Fish Scale" in early 2016. The critically acclaimed album, described by Pitchfork as "brimming with passion and protest," was nominated for the Polaris Music Prize.
Forth Wanderers

Forth Wanderers are five friends from Montclair, New Jersey. Together they make some of the most powerfully intimate and emotive indie-rock music you're likely to hear. Comprised of singer Ava Trilling, guitarists Ben Guterl and Duke Greene, bassist Noah Schifrin and drummer Zach Lorelli, despite all being under the age of 21, the group have been prolifically forging musical creations from the bedrooms of their Garden State township since 2013. Forth Wanderers have been building a loyal fan base plucked from disparate scenes, drawing comparisons from everyone from Built To Spill and Pavement to Mac Demarco and Weezer.
CAAMP

Evan plays the banjo, Taylor plays the guitar and together they slam stages as the power duo, CAAMP. The childhood friends have been writing songs since 2012 and began performing as CAAMP in 2015. In March of 2016, the duo released their self-titled, debut record that has since put them on the map. Their original song "Ohio" charted at #4 on the US Spotify Viral Chart and the album currently has over 2.5 million streams. CAAMP is known for their heartfelt sound, and authentic live shows that leave their loyal crowds with hearts pounding.
Now in its ninth consecutive year, Green Music Fest embraces environmentally conscious and green technologies like its pedal-powered stage, where attendees pedal stationary bicycles to power amps, guitars, spotlights and more. Bright Beat returns to lead the festival's eco education and sustainability programming. In addition to live music stages and a variety of Lagunitas brews, the festival showcases innovative green vendors and products, along with the return of Pet Fest & Kids Fest areas where kids with and without paws can enjoy demonstrations, crafts, games and more. The community tables will be boosted this year to include even more green-minded folks sharing their passion for zero-waste lifestyles, organic benefits and sustainable ways to improve the home.
