Strawdog Sets 2016-17 Season at Factory Theatre

Strawdog Theatre Company and Artistic Director Hank Boland have announced their 2016 - 2017 season. Strawdog's 29th season will be produced in its itinerant home at the new Factory Theatre in Rogers Park, 1621 W. Howard St. on the Chicago Evanston border in the historic Howard Theatre building. The theatre space is a newly created 70 seat three-quarters thrust just two blocks from CTA's Howard Red Line terminal. Strawdog Theatre's 2016 - 2017 three-show season includes:

Distance, August 25 - October 1, a world premiere by Jerre Dye, directed by Erica Weiss.

Cymbeline, January 12, 2017 - February 25, 2017 by William Shakespeare, directed by Rob Kauzlaric

A Third Production to be announced at a later date. May 11, 2017 - June 24, 2017

"Over the last several seasons Strawdog has pushed ourselves and our audiences into new artistic territory; now the time has come to explore new geographic territory. We are excited to have found a temporary home with The Factory Theatre. We are thrilled to be bringing our work to Howard Street. We're eager to share Distance and Cymbeline with our loyal audience members and think they will serve as great introduction pieces for new audiences," said Boland.

Irene Radford is losing touch with the people who inhabit her world. But as her battle with Alzheimer's continues, the stronger the connection between these relative strangers becomes. Making her Strawdog debut, Jeff Award-nominee Erica Weiss (A Twist of Water, The Downpour, Cicada, Grapes of Wrath) directs this heartfelt and poetic world premiere by Jerre Dye (Cicada) that asks questions of memory, identity, relationships and the vulnerability of change.

Wicked stepmothers, trusty servants, orphans and princesses clash in a world of battles, music, mistaken identities, evil queens and the quest for truth, loyalty and love renewed. Strawdog begins 2017 with Shakespeare's dark fairy tale of betrayal and lost love. Robert Kauzlaric makes his Strawdog directing debut helming this classic story of a princess defying her father to reclaim her banished husband.

*FULLY ACCESSIBLE PERFORMANCE

Strawdog Theatre Company continues to expand its Access Project throughout its 29th season. With street level access at the Factory Theatre, every performance is now wheelchair accessible. The 2016 - 2017 Access Project performances include audio description, open captioning with a touch tour beginning at 2:30 p.m. Performances are at 4 p.m. and scheduled for Sunday Sept. 11, Feb 5, 2017 and June 4, 2017.
