Following its hit revival of Marvin's Room, Shattered Globe Theatre is pleased to continue its 25th anniversary season with Pulitzer Prize finalist Rajiv Joseph's uncommon love story ANIMALS OUT OF PAPER, a vibrant and nuanced peek into the creative process that shapes three lives, directed by Devon de Mayo. ANIMALS OUT OF PAPER will play January 14 - February 27, 2016 at Theater Wit, 1229 W. Belmont Ave. in Chicago. Tickets are currently available at www.theaterwit.org, in person at the Theater Wit Box Office or by calling (773) 975-8150. The press opening is Sunday, January 17 at 3 pm.

ANIMALS OUT OF PAPER features Ensemble Members Cortney McKenna* and Joe Wiens* with Awate Serequeberhan.

Andy, a calculus teacher and avid fan, pressures a reclusive Ilana, a world famous origami artist, into becoming an unwitting mentor to a troubled teenage prodigy, Suresh. These three intriguingly flawed characters begin to reshape and mold each other's lives in much the same way they fold and crease their origami art.

"Animals Out of Paper excites me because it is about unlikely friendships and how, sometimes the person who can help us most, is the person we least expect," comments Director Devon de Mayo. "This play uses the beautiful, complex art of origami as the meeting ground for three lonely and complicated souls to try and figure out the next stage of their lives. The play surprises at every turn because it acknowledges that in life answers aren't easy - they often just open the door to more questions."

Adds Producing Artistic Director Sandy Shinner, "Thanks to the generosity of Elizabeth F. Cheney Foundation, we're able to include Chicago origami artist Christine Edison in our plans for Animals Out of Paper. Christine's award winning designs are known for her beautiful fluid folding techniques and I am looking forward to working with her and integrating this ancient art into our production."

The production includes Grant Sabin (scenic designer), Sarah Jo White* (costume designer), Brian Healy (lighting design), Stephen Gawrit (sound design), David Antonio Reed (props master), Christine Edison (origami design), Steve Peebles* (asst. director), Kelly Clausen (production manager) and Stephanie Hurovitz (stage manager). *Denotes SGT Ensemble Member.
