RiverEdge Park to Host GREASE Sing-A-Long, 8/9

Whether you're a T-bird or a Pink Lady, Jock or a Nerd, Goody-Two-Shoes or a Beauty School Dropout, everyone will LOVE belting out We Go Together, doing the Hand Jive and singing You're The One That I Want when RiverEdge Park, 360 North Broadway in downtown Aurora, presents an outdoor Sing-a-long-a GREASE, Friday, August 9.

Gates open at 6 p.m. The movie starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are only $5. Purchase online at RiverEdgeAurora.com, via phone at 630.896.6666, or stop by the nearby Paramount Theatre, the satellite box office for RiverEdge, located at 23 E. Galena Boulevard, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday. The RiverEdge box office is also open onsite any day that RiverEdge is hosting a concert or event this summer, starting at 10 a.m.

Here's your chance to see your favorite hit musical from 1978 on the big screen again where dancing is encouraged and singing is mandatory.True Greasers won't need the lyrics on screen, but just in case you're bringing a newbie, they're there to follow as Danny (John Travolta), Sandy (Olivia Newton-John) and the gang take us back to an era where pompadours and poodle skirts were all the rage and back seats were big enough to get more than a hickie from Kenickie.

Don't be a fool, dressing up is cool! So hit the thrift shops and raid your parents' closets, because prizes will be awarded for the best 50's fashions.

King and Sonny Landreth(August 16); The Pink Floyd Experience (August 17); tween sensations Bridgit Mendler and R5 (August 18); Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers presented by Two Brothers Brewing Co (August 24); Joan Sebastian and Ramon Ayala (September 13);and Fiestas Patrias Aurora 2013 (September 14 & 15).

RiverEdge Park is located directly across Metra's Aurora Transportation Center, on the east bank of the beautiful Fox River. Almost all RiverEdge events allow folding chairs and bag chairs for general admission ticket holders. For preferred general admission bench seating, guests are encouraged to bring a padded seat cushion for added comfort.

Food and drink are available for purchase inside RiverEdge Park. Concessions at RiverEdge offer a diversified menu from official food vendor Two Brothers Roundhouse, along with a bar featuring Two Brothers' craft beers, Anheuser-Bush products, wine, sodas, bottled water and more. No outside food or drink (except water) are allowed in the park during events.

Concerts take place rain or shine, unless conditions endanger the safety of artists and the public. Concertgoers may call the RiverEdge Park WeatherLine at 630-723-2478 to check the status of a concert if inclement weather is pending. The RiverEdge Park project was constructed by the City of Aurora through a combination of grants and donations from the State of Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO), the Fox Valley Park District, and The Dunham Fund.

RiverEdge Park is managed and programmed by the Aurora Civic Center Authority (ACCA), which also oversees operations for Aurora's historic Paramount Theatre. ACCA has a proven track record of attracting audiences to downtown Aurora, with annual attendance at the Paramount Theatre having grown from 55,000 in 2010, to more than 200,000 for the recent 2012-2013 season.
