Author Marguerite Duras describes the couple in La Musica as being torn apart by the forces of a passion so strong it both nourished and destroyed their relationship. On the eve of their divorce being finalized, the couple (Elizabeth Laidlaw and John Gray) meets at the hotel where, three short years before, they first fell in love and lived while their love was at its most passionate. With a live jazz saxophone setting the tone, night falls and their conversation unfolds, secrets are revealed, emotions are heightened and a love may be rekindled or extinguished forever.
