Erin Mackey Talks AMAZING GRACE In Chicago

Erin Mackey, one of the headlining stars of the Chicago tryout production of the new musical, discusses her participation with the project in a new interview.

Mackey relates of the themes of the new musical, "Our show really focuses in on a couple years of his life that were really pivotal, really helped form him to be the man that would write 'Amazing Grace'."

Furthermore, Mackey shares of her character in the show, "[She] was the childhood sweetheart and always believed in him, believed that he could get out of all the dark, tumultuous troubled places he was in."

Plus, Mackey adds of Christopher Smith's original score, "He's incredibly talented. And this has been such a passion project for Chris, too - he knows everything there is to know about John Newton and this time."

"It's an epic show, it's a big show, and it's wonderful that it's being done in the right way, you know. We're not cutting corners," Mackey concludes.
