Cast Announced for First Floor Theater's PEERLESS

First Floor Theater is excited to continue their fifth season with the Chicago premiere of Jiehae Park's critically acclaimed PEERLESS, directed by Artistic Director Hutch Pimentel.

PEERLESS will play February 12 - March 11, 2017 at The Den Theatre, 1333 N Milwaukee Ave. in Chicago. Tickets are on sale now at firstfloortheater.com. The press opening is Wednesday, February 15 at 7:30pm.

The cast will feature Managing Director Amanda Fink with Aurora Adachi-Winter, Caroline Chu, Matt Daniels and Jesse Massaro.

In an ordinary Midwestern high school, twin sisters M and L are competitive with everyone - except each other. When the failsafe combination of perfect academics, killer extracurriculars, and calculated self-identification fails to impress The College's early decision admissions board, they hatch a sinister Plan B to secure their future. PEERLESS is a blisteringly funny new riff on Shakespeare's Macbeth about the unbreakable bond between sisters whose vaulting ambition will not be deferred at any cost.

ABOUT THE CREATIVE TEAM:

Jiehae Park (Playwright) Plays include peerless (Yale Rep premiere, Cherry Lane Mentor Project, Marin Theatre Co, Barrington Stage, Company One, Moxie, First Floor) and Hannah and the Dread Gazebo (Oregon Shakespeare Festival premiere, 2017). She is one of the writers of Wondrous Strange(2016 Humana/ATL). Development: Sundance Theatre-Makers, Berkeley Rep's Ground Floor, Soho Rep, Playwrights Horizons, the Public's EWG, I73, NYTW, Old Globe, Dramatists Guild Fellowship, Ojai Conference, Playwrights Realm, BAPF, and the amazing Ma-Yi Writers Lab. Awards/recognitions: Leah Ryan, Princess Grace, Weissberger, ANPF Women's Invitational (Grand Prize), two years of the Kilroys List. Commissions: Playwrights Horizons, McCarter, Williamstown, Geffen, OSF, MTC/Sloan. Residencies: MacDowell, Yaddo, Hedgebrook, McCarter/Sallie B. Goodman. She is a NYTW Usual Suspect, Lincoln Center Theater New Writer in Residence, and 2016-17 Hodder Fellow at Princeton. Hutch Pimentel (Director) is a director and producer in Chicago. He is currently the Artistic Director of First Floor Theater where he's directed Polaroid Stories, Edith Can Shoot Things & Hit Them and Animals Commit Suicide and produced numerous other shows. During his time in Chicago, he's had the pleasure of working at About Face Theatre, American Theater Company, Polarity Ensemble, Redmoon, The Gift Theatre, The Goodman and Victory Gardens. He's worked outside of Chicago at Oregon Shakespeare Festival and The Vineyard Theatre. He is an Associate Member of SDC and graduated from Kalamazoo College in Michigan.

First Floor Theater stages stories of individuals facing moments of radical change. Through a process of collaborative dramaturgy, FFT expands these stories to ask urgent social questions.
