Goodnight Moon The Musical, a new version of the beloved children's book Goodnight Moon like you've never seen before, will launch the 2011-2012 season for Chicago Children's Theatre (CCT), running October 27 through December 23 at the Victory Gardens Biograph Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln Avenue, Chicago.

True, Goodnight Moon may be everyone's favorite bedtime story, but with David Kersnar of Lookingglass Theatre at the directorial helm, and all new music arrangements by Mark "Mucca Pazza" Messing, Chicago Children's Theatre's technicolor take on Margaret Wise Brown's beloved children's tale promises to be an "eyes wide open" show for audiences of all ages.

To add even more fun, fuzzy warm feelings, and educational components to seeing Goodnight Moon The Musical, Chicago Children's Theatre has confirmed this initial slate of value-added special events and promotions:
Goodnight Moon Pajama Drive

Chicago Children's Theatre is excited to partner with Scholastic Books and The Pajama Program, a non-profit organization which provides new, warm pajamas and new books to children in need in Chicago and around the world.

Throughout the run of Goodnight Moon The Musical, Chicago Children's Theatre will post a Pajama Drive donation bin in the Biograph lobby during every performance. For every pair of new pajamas donated during the run of Goodnight Moon, Scholastic Books will donate an equal number of early learning books for disadvantaged youth.

Note: Many of the children receiving new pajamas and books via Chicago Children's Theatre's Goodnight Moon Pajama Drive are waiting to be adopted - youngsters who may not know the comforts of a mother or father to tuck them into a cozy bed and read them a bedtime story. For more information, visit pajamaprogram.org.

Goodnight Moon Pajama Parties - Friday, November 11, December 9 and December 16 at 7 p.m.

Families are encouraged to kick off the weekend and wear their pajamas to the theater for three specially-added Friday evening "Pajama Party" performances of Goodnight Moon on November 11, December 9 and December 16 at 7 pm. All three performances will be followed by milk and cookie receptions. What a great start to the perfect slumber party!

Goodnight Moon The Musical and Adler Planetarium Partner for Added Fun, Learning

The Adler Planetarium, dedicated to inspiring the next generation of explorers and inspiring a greater understanding of our Universe, and Chicago Children's Theatre already share similar family programming and educational initiatives. Add Chicago Children's Theatre's new musical version of Goodnight Moon to the mix, and there's never been a better opportunity to forge a fun, educational partnership between two of Chicago's favorite family destinations!

To kick off their partnership, the Adler will host a pre-opening Goodnight Moon story time preview event at the planetarium on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 11 a.m. The event, which is free with the cost of admission, will include a Goodnight Moon story time, free ticket giveaways and discount offers, and complimentary snacks and refreshments.

Likewise, astronomers from the Adler will travel to the Victory Gardens Biograph Theater to lead post-show discussions about the moon following select performances of Goodnight Moon (specific days and times TBA). In addition, the Adler is providing content about the moon for Chicago Children's Theatre's Goodnight Moon: The Musical study guide that is provided to school groups attending the show and available for all audiences to download from the theater's website, chicagochildrenstheatre.org/goodnight-moon.html

Plus, families are always looking for a great deal, so Chicago Children's Theatre has arranged it so Goodnight Moon audience members can present their ticket stub from the show at the Adler for a $3 discount on a Deep Space Adventure Pass. Likewise, Adler Planetarium members, or anyone holding a ticket stub from an Adler visit, can present their member card or ticket stub at the Victory Gardens Biograph box office to receive $5 off their ticket to Goodnight Moon. Used ticket stubs from either organization must be for visits during the run of Goodnight Moon, October 27 through December 23.
