Based on Alice Munro's collection of short stories, HATESHIP, FRIENDSHIP, COURTSHIP, LOVESHIP, MARRIAGE, the film follows a nanny, play by Wiig, who is hired to watch over for wild teen (Gayle). The girl creates a romance between the nanny and her addict of a dad, who lives in a neighboring town.
