Kirstie Alley portrays a Broadway star in her new sitcom 'Kirstie', starring Rhea Perlman and Michael Richards. The actress stopped by this morning's GOOD MORNING AMERICA to talk about her new project. "I like to play characters that I'm never going to be," joked the actress of her role in the upcoming TV Land series. Check out the appearance below!

KIRSTIE premieres December 4 at 10/9C on TV Land. Kristin Chenoweth will join a host of guest stars on the show including Kristen Johnston, George Wendt and Cloris Leachman.

The show centers around Broadway star Madison Banks (Kirstie Alley) whose life turns upside down when Arlo (Eric Petersen), the son she gave up at birth, suddenly appears, hoping to connect after his adoptive parents have died. Rhea Perlman ("Cheers") stars as Maddie's assistant and best friend alongside Richards ("Seinfeld") as Maddie's outlandish driver.

Chenoweth will take on the role of Britney Gold, described as "Maddie's conniving and ambitious snake of an understudy who will do anything - or anyone - to get onstage. And since the unsinkable Maddie never misses a performance, she'll leap at Maddie's offer to finally let her Go On in exchange for an unseemly favor."

Leachman will portray Shirley Kluszewski, Madison's "outspoken, hard-living, show business-hating mother who is estranged from her daughter."
