UPDATE: Harrison Ford Fractures Ankle on Set of STAR WARS; Disney Releases Statement

As BWW reported yesterday, Harrison Ford was injured on the set of Disney and LucasFilm's highly anticipated STAR WARS: EPISODE VII. According to Disney, the actor was hospitalized in London following an injury which occured during filming on Wednesday.

Disney has released the following statement on the incident: "Harrison Ford sustained an ankle injury during filming today on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII. He was taken to a local hospital and is receiving care. Shooting will continue as planned while he recuperates."

Deadline now reports that the actor has a fractured ankle. No word on when he may return to the set to resume filming.

Actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow will join the original stars of the Saga Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker in the new, currently untitled film.

Star Wars: Episode VII is being directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan and Abrams. Kathleen Kennedy, Abrams, and Bryan Burk are producing and John Williams returns as the composer. The movie opens worldwide on December 18, 2015.
