Deadline reports exclusively that TBS has inked a deal with NBCUniversal for the cable Syndication rights to the first five seasons of the hit comedy series BROOKLYN NINE-NINE. The agreement, which kicks of in 2017, includes exclusive linear rights as well as associated on-demand tights, including rolling episodes on TV Everywhere. The show's fourth season recently premiered on FOX.

Last year, ratings for BROOKLYN NINE-NINE grew by an average of +56% in adults 18-49 rating from Live+same day to Live+7 (from a 1.21 rating to a 1.89) and increased by more than +1.2 million viewers overall (2.7 million to 4.0 million). In its first season, the series was the recipient of two Golden Globes Awards, one for best comedy series and one Andy Samberg as Best Lead Actor in a comedy.

Set in the fictional 99th Precinct of the New York City Police Department in Brooklyn, BROOKLYN NINE-NINE follows a team of detectives headed by newly appointed Captain Ray Holt (Andre Braugher). Among the detectives is Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg), who frequently tops the squad in collars despite his relaxed, carefree attitude, much to the annoyance of his more by-the-book colleague, Amy Santiago (Melissa Fumero). Charles Boyle (Joe Lo Truglio) is a capable but quirky detective who wears his emotions on his sleeve, as opposed to the stoic and mysterious Rosa Diaz (Stephanie Beatriz). The detectives report to Sergeant Terry Jeffords (Terry Crews), a devout family man who is initially afraid to go back to active police work following a near-death experience on the streets. Rounding out the precinct is sarcastic civilian administrator Gina Linetti (Chelsea Peretti), who seems to value everything else in her life over her job.
