STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS Tops Rentrak's Official Worldwide Box Office Results for Weekend of 1,17

Rentrak (RENT), the leader in precisely measuring movies and TV everywhere, today announced the official worldwide weekend box office estimates for the weekend of Jan. 17, 2016, as compiled by the company's theatrical measurement services.

Rentrak's Senior Media Analyst Paul Dergarabedian commented, "Disney's 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' does it again, leading the box office charge as it adds an additional $72.4 million globally in its fifth weekend in cinemas, thus bringing its total to nearly $1.9 billion around the globe as it sets its sights on the $2 billion club. Fox's 'The Revenant' is also a big winner as it builds on critical and awards-season buzz with nearly $150 million worldwide to date and climbing."
