SMASH and Broadway Star Krysta Rodriguez Joins CBS's HOW I MET YOUR DAD

According to The Hollywood Reporter, SMASH and star of FIRST DATE on Broadway Krysta Rodriguez has signed on for CBS's How I Met Your Mother spin-off HOW I MET YOUR DAD.

Greta Gerwig will take the lead role in HOW I MET YOUR DAD, from Carter Bays, Craig Thomas, and Emily Spivey (Up All Night). Her 'Sally' is described as a "female Peter Pan who has never grown up and has no idea of where she's going in life. She's thinking of calling it quits with her husband of a year, Gavin. She'll lean on her circle of friends for advice and support through the inevitable divorce."

Rodriguez will play 'Juliet', Sally's best friend, described as "a sexy and flamboyant party girl force of nature who runs the most successful fashion blog in the country who is secretly delighted when her best friend breaks up with her 'boring' husband".

Also in the cast is Upright Citizens Brigade member Drew Tarver as "Todd, Sally's best friend and roommate from college who is now married to her brother".

Rodriguez last appeared on Broadway in First Date. Her past credits include The Addams Family, In the Heights, Spring Awakening, A Chorus Line and Good Vibrations. On TV, she recently showed off her musical prowess in NBC's SMASH and has also appeared on Gossip Girl and the TV movies Iceland, Shadow of Fear and It Could Be Worse.
