TV talk-show host and Oscar nominee Oprah Winfrey appeared as a special guest anchor on this morning's GOOD MORNING AMERICA on ABC and revealed her plans to perform on a Broadway stage. "My dream is to do Broadway," asserted Winfrey. "That is going to happen."

The 58-year-old made the comment while sitting in for GMA anchor Robin Roberts who is currently recovering from a recent bone marrow transplant.

Winfrey co-starred in Steven Spielberg's 1985 The Color Purple as distraught housewife, Sofia. She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance. The film went on to become a Broadway musical which opened in late 2005, with Winfrey as a producer. In 1998, Winfrey produced and starred in the film Beloved, based on Toni Morrison's Pulitzer Prize winning novel of the same name. Her other theater producing credits include Off-Broadway's 1992 production of 'From the Mississippi Delta'.

Winfrey will next be seen in the upcoming film THE BUTLER, based on the life of White House servant EuGene Allen, who worked for eight presidential families over the course of three decades. The all star cast includes Forest Whitaker as Allen, Winfrey as Allen's wife, Matthew McConaughey as John F. Kennedy, John Cusack as Richard Nixon, Alan Rickman as Ronald Reagan, Jane Fonda as Nancy Reagan, as well as Cuba Gooding Jr., David Oyelowo, Lenny Kravitz, Jess Williams, Vanessa Redgrave, James Marsden and Alex Pettyfer. The movie is due out in theaters next year.
