NBC UNIVERSO, the modern general entertainment cable channel for Latinos, will air live the first race in the NASCAR Mexico Series - The Toyota 120 - from Phoenix International Raceway in Avondale, Az., on Friday, March 13, at 10 p.m. ET. The race will be 120 laps UNDER THE LIGHTS covering 120 miles.

Fans across the U.S. can catch all the electrifying action of Mexico's national racing championship as rising young star and defending series champion Abraham Calderón battles some of NASCAR's best young drivers, including Rubén García Jr., and series veterans Rubén Pardo, Antonío Peréz and Rogelio López for the checkered flag. Daniel Suárez, who is now racing in the NASCAR XFINITY Series for Joe Gibbs Racing, won the race last year and will be this year's honorary Grand Marshal. Calderón won the inaugural race at Phoenix in 2013.

The track is a one-mile speedway with 11 degrees banking between Turns 1 and 2; 10 to 11 degrees banking at the apex of the dog-leg; and 9 degrees banking in Turns 3 and 4.

Phoenix, which kicks off the Mexico Series for the third consecutive year, is the first of 15 races scheduled in the series championship. It will culminate with the five-race Desafío to crown the 2015 NASCAR Mexico Series champion.

NBC UNIVERSO continues its evolution in bringing Latinos the best and most iconic sports franchises, including NASCAR. The network's telecast of the Mexico Series race in Phoenix looks to deliver the exciting door-to-door, fender banging action that is synonymous with NASCAR racing across the world.

The NASCAR Mexico Series has proven to one of Mexico's foremost motorsports series. Within the past five years, NASCAR has retained a commitment to diversity on and off the track by creating programs that authentically and organically reach the Latino community. The sanctioning body has made important changes to how it markets the sport, including developing Spanish-language ad spots and launching the NASCAR Te Mueve platform to help engage Latino fans in new and relevant ways through digital channels.
