Martin Sheen to Appear on MSNBC's TAKING THE HILL, 6/22

Former Congressman (D-PA) and Iraq War veteran Patrick Murphy sits down with actor and activist Martin Sheen next Sunday, June 22 at 1 p.m. ET in the next monthly edition of MSNBC's "Taking the Hill." Sheen, who is an Ambassador for the National Association of Drug Court Professionals (NADCP) and whose brother is a Vietnam veteran, tells MSNBC contributor Murphy, "...Drug Court veterans that are coming in [are] because of other veterans who have gone through the program and have become mentors." Murphy and Sheen also discuss the importance of group recovery for struggling veterans - and how sharing their stories publicly can help.

In recognition of PTSD Awareness Month, MSNBC will air two installments of "Wounded: The Battle Back Home" beginning with a rebroadcast of "Nico: Operation Healthy Mind" this Sunday, June 14 at 1 p.m. ET and the premiere of "John: Operation Employ" next Sunday, June 22 at 1 p.m. ET.

In "John: Operation Employ," Texas native John Usener recounts the harrowing war events that led to his PTSD and traumatic brain injury (TBI). A February 2007 insurgent attack targeting his Army truck convoy left Usener with severe injuries to his eyes and debilitating migraines. Following his physical recovery and medical discharge in 2010, Usener returned home with little guidance on how to navigate civilian life and without the sense of purpose the military had instilled in him since the age of 17. Viewers watch how Usener, with the help of the Wounded Warrior Project, begins the journey of rebuilding his life.

"Wounded: The Battle Back Home" is produced by Flow Nonfiction in conjunction with Wounded Warrior Project to commemorate the organization's 10th anniversary. For more information on the Wounded Warrior Project, visit www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
