HBO Announces YoungArts MasterClass Season 2 Encores and Premieres

Season Two of the Emmy-nominated HBO series YoungArts MasterClass, in which renowned artists and masters teach and mentor young artists selected by the National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts), concludes with two nights of back-to-back episodes including encore presentations and premieres. Beginning at 6:30PM ET/PT on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 HBO2 will air encore presentations of Season Two episodes featuring master teachers Patti LuPone,Bobby McFerrin and John Guare.

The following night, on Wednesday, May 22, beginning at 6:30PM ET, HBO2 will air three premiere episodes featuring visual artist James Rosenquist, photographer Bruce Weber, and actress Kathleen Turner.

YoungArts MasterClass is a program of the National YoungArts Foundation, an organization that identifies and supports the next generation of artists and contributes to the cultural vitality of the nation, and a production of Simon & Goodman Picture Company; produced and directed by Oscar and Emmy-winners Karen Goodman and Kirk Simon.

WHO

John Guare, Oscar-nominated screen writer and Tony Award-winning playwright, mentors three 2010 YoungArts Winners in Writing, Caroline Durlacher, Drew Dickerson, and Sharon Jan, teaching them about the origins of theater in Rome, Italy.

Patti LuPone, Tony Award-winner for the original Broadway production "Evita," works with 2011 YoungArts Winners in Theater Maggie Johnson, Ryan McCartan, Reid Watson and Kyra Wharton.

Bobby McFerrin, Grammy-winning vocal virtuoso, coaches and performs onstage in Baden-Baden, Germany with 2011 YoungArts Winners Aaron Casey (Voice), Christine Jones(Theater), Ryan McCartan (Theater and U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts), and Hannah Zazzaro (Voice).

James Rosenquist, visual artist and painter, known for his large scale billboard paintings, paints shoulder-to-shoulder with 2009 and 2010 YoungArts Winners in Visual Arts Peter Ferguson,Lauren Robie and Aaron Starkey.

Kathleen Turner, Academy Award and Tony Award-nominated actress, works with 2012 YoungArts Winners in Theater Dallas Akins, Michelle Ang (U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts), Wonza Johnson and Jasmine Sabino.

Bruce Weber, noted and influential fashion photographer shows 2010 and 2011 YoungArts Winners Michael Beuttler (Cinematic Arts), Adam Brobjorg (Photography), Ilana Goldmeier(Photography), Devon Leaver(Cinematic Arts), Yasmin Naylor (Photography) and Grace Samson (Cinematic Arts) his favorite New York City and Miami locations.

ABOUT YOUNGARTS MASTERCLASS
YoungArts MasterClass connects world-class creative artists with small groups of YoungArts Alumni, who represent a new generation of American talent. Each edition of the program highlights the importance of mentorship, which resonates in the arts and beyond, allowing this new generation of young artists to meet and work with legends, like Renée Fleming, in the fields they aspire to pursue.

Season One of YoungArts MasterClass featured Edward Albee, Jacques d'Amboise, Plácido Domingo, Olafur Eliasson, Frank Gehry, Bill T. Jones, Julian Schnabel, Michael Tilson Thomas, and Liv Ullmann. In 2011,YoungArts MasterClass received an Emmy nomination in the category of Outstanding Children's Nonfiction, Reality or Reality-Competition Program.

In 2012, in conjunction with Columbia University's Teachers College, YoungArts developed a Study Guide based on the YoungArts MasterClass series.
