The Washington Post reports that actor George Clooney and his father were among several protestors arrested this morning outside of the Sudan Embassy in Washington, D.C.

Clooney's publicist revealed to TMZ, "They were protesting the violence committed by the government of Sudan on its own innocent men, women and children. They were demanding they allow humanitarian aid into the country before it becomes the largest humanitarian crisis in the world."

According to the report, Clooney was joined by a group of protestors which included congressman and other religious and human rights leaders. The demonstrators were given three verbal warnings before they were taken away in handcuffs.

According to a post on Today show anchor Ann Curry's Twitter account, Clooney is quoted as saying "It's actually a humiliating thing to be arrested no matter what you do, but I'm glad to be standing here with my father."
