GIRLS - VOLUME 1: MUSIC FROM THE HBO ORIGINAL SERIES Released Today

Fueled By Ramen has announced the release of "GIRLS - VOLUME 1: MUSIC FROM THE HBO ORIGINAL SERIES," the musical Companion to the acclaimed comedy series. The album arrives in stores and all DSPs today, January 8th, with the hugely anticipated second season of Girls slated to premiere on HBO on January 13th (check local listings).

Those who pre-order the album via the Fueled By Ramen webstore or iTunes will receive an instant gratification download of the brand new Santigold track "Girls," which was just premiered exclusively on the influential music blog Pitchfork (http://bit.ly/RXhI6o). The track is exclusive to "GIRLS - VOLUME 1: MUSIC FROM THE HBO ORIGINAL SERIES" and is the soundtrack's lead single. As if all that weren't enough, "GIRLS - VOLUME 1: MUSIC FROM THE HBO ORIGINAL SERIES" features songs spanning contemporary pop, rock, dance, and indie, performed by such iconic artists as Belle & Sebastian, Robyn, Fleet Foxes, and The Vaccines. The album also includes tracks from a number of today's most intriguing new artists, including Oh Land, Harper Simon, and Icona Pop, with the Deluxe Edition adding such critically acclaimed acts as Sleigh Bells, White Sea and Generationals.

Created by and Starring Lena Dunham (Tiny Furniture), Girls is a comic look at the assorted humiliations and rare triumphs of a group of girls in their early 20s. Dunham executive produces along with Judd Apatow and Jenni Konner. The cast also includes Jemima Kirke, Allison Williams, Adam Driver and Zosia Mamet.
