Debra Messing Picks Up Lead in NBC's Greg Berlanti Drama Pilot

Debra Messing will star in the NBC drama pilot "The Mysteries of Laura." Messing will play Detective Laura Diamond, a female homicide detective who can handle criminals - but not her hell-raising twin children.

Project is based on Spanish series "Los Misterios De Laura," with Jeff Rake penning the Stateside version. Rake serves as exec producer on the hourlong drama with Greg Berlanti and Aaron Kaplan. Melissa Kellner Berman is co-exec producer.

Berlanti Prods. and Kapital Entertainment are producing "Mysteries of Laura" in association with Warner Bros. TV. The original Spanish series was created by Carlos Vila and Javier Holgado for Boomerang TV and TVE1 Spain.
