TVGuide.com has reported that Tony Award nominee David Alan Grier is slated to guest star in an upcoming episode of Bones, the FOX crime drama series. Grier is to play Professor Bunsen Jude the "Science Dude," in a role based off of the popular children's TV show host Bill Nye the Science Guy.

Grier's character is a host of a children's TV program who agrees to help out with the investigation of a murder in order to prove to Brennan (Emily Deschanel) that he is a serious scientist. In return, Brennan agrees to appear on his TV show if he is successful.

Grier has performed in Race, Dream Girls and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum on Broadway. Grier also has several television and movie credits to his name, including parts in 'Life with Bonnie' and the movie 'The Woodsman.'

Bones will return to Fox on Thursday, September 23 at 8/7c. The episode starring Grier is expected to air in October. Click here for TVGuide's full report.
