CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY Posts Largest Year-to-Year Viewer Gain

The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY posted the largest year-to-year viewer gain (+8%, 6.78m from 6.30m) among the network evening news broadcasts for the week ending April 17, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings.

The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY added +480,000 viewers and closed the gap with NBC by 1.34m viewers and with ABC by 320,000 viewers compared to the same week last year. CBS was the only network to maintain its adults 25-54 delivery (1.3/06) - the demographic most important to those who advertise in news - compared to last year.

Season-to-date, the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY is up +2% in viewers (7.33m from 7.20m) and even in adults 25-54 (1.5/06) compared to last year.

On last week's broadcasts, Clarissa Ward took viewers inside the humanitarian crisis at sea as a surge of refugees from AFRICA and the Middle East try to reach Italy; Anna Werner went to Oklahoma City to report on the 20th anniversary of the bombing; and Wyatt Andrews investigated complaints from taxpayers that the government seized their refunds without notice.
