CBS EVENING NEWS Posts Largest Year-to-Year Increase in Viewers

The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY posted the largest year-to-year increase in viewers among the network evening news broadcasts for the week ending July 17, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings. The CBS broadcast grew its audience by +4% (6.49m from 6.22m) and added +270,000 viewers compared to the same week last year.

The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY was even in adults 25-54 (1.2/05) - the demographic most important to those who advertise in news - compared to the same week last year.

Television year-to-date, the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY is up +3% in viewers (7.11m from 6.89m) and even in adults 25-54 (1.4/06) compared to last year.

On last week's broadcasts, Elizabeth Palmer reported from Syria where more than seven million refugees are struggling to survive amid civil war; Jim Axelrod, Jericka Duncan, Jeff Pegues, and Dean Reynolds reported on the shootings in Chattanooga, Tenn.; Margaret Brennan, Nancy Cordes and Major Garrett covered the Iran nuclear deal; Scott Pelley interviewed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu; and John Blackstone interviewed the teenager who was the SOLE SURVIVOR of a plane crash in Washington state.
