Stage star Cory Michael Smith is heading to GOTHAM.

According to Deadline, the former BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY's star has signed on to play Edward Nygma, aka 'The Riddler' in Fox's upcoming Batman prequel drama, also starring Ben McKenzie and Donal Logue.

From executive producer/writer Bruno Heller ("The Mentalist," "Rome"), "Gotham" follows one cop's rise through a dangerously corrupt city teetering on the edge of evil and chronicles the birth of one of the most popular super heroes of our time.

"Gotham" is based upon characters published by DC Comics and is produced by Warner Bros. Television. Heller wrote the pilot, which will be directed and executive-produced by Emmy Award nominee Danny Cannon (the "CSI" series, "Nikita").

The actor recently Peter Sattler's upcoming indie film Camp X-Ray. He will also appear in HBO's Olive Kitteridge miniseries, alongside Frances McDormand. He's currently filming Carol, alongside Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara.

Smith made his Broadway debut as 'Fred' in Tony Award winning playwright Richard Greenberg's Breakfast at Tiffany's which opened at the Cort Theatre on March 20, 2013. The stage adaption of Truman Capote's classic novella also starred Emilia Clarke (HBO's "Game of Thrones") in the iconic role of 'Holly Golightly,' and George Wendt as 'Joe Bell.'
