Bradley Whitford in Talks For SAVING MR. BANKS

Variety reports that Bradley Whitford is in early talks to join the cast of Disney's SAVING MR. BANKS. The actor would join previously announced cast members Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson on the film. John Lee Hancock will direct with a script by Kelly Marcel.

SAVING MR. BANKS follows Walt Disney's 14-year quest to convince author P.L. Travers to allow his company to acquire the rights to her popular book "Mary Poppins." Thompson is set to portray Travers in the film while Hanks will take on the role of Disney. Whitford would join the cast as Don DaGradi, co-author of the Disney Poppins adaptation starring Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke. DaGradi and Travers had legendary fueds throughout the film's creative process.

Colin Farrell will also star in the movie as Travers' father, who inspired the Mr. Banks character. He passed away when the author was still a young girl.

Whitford recently appeared on the big screen in "The Cabin in the Woods." His other film credits include 'Philadelphia' and the upcoming 'Savannah' and 'Decoding Annie Parker.' His TV credits include Parks and Recreation, The Mentalist, and 'The West Wing'
