'Behind the Music' Producer Greg Heller Inks Development Deal with Wilshire Studios

Wilshire Studios, the unscripted production arm of NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment, has signed a deal with TV producer Greg Heller to develop and produce original unscripted projects. The announcement was made today by B.J. Levin, Senior Vice President, Development, Wilshire Studios.

"Greg Heller is an outstanding talent with years of experience in unscripted television," said Levin. "We look forward to a successful partnership as we continue to expand our slate of creative, breakthrough programming."

Heller's notable reality television projects include "Hip Hop Babylon" (MTV), "7 Deadly Hollywood Sins" (E!), "Celebrity Fit Club" (VH1), as well as the VH1 music themed docu-series "Ultimate Albums" and "Behind the Music."

"I am thrilled to work with the fearless team at Wilshire," said Heller. "They are a forward-thinking, innovative studio, and I'm confident that our collaboration will result in some incredible programming."

Wilshire Studios continues to invest in the industry's best talent to develop an exciting, growing roster of unscripted content. Recent development deals include a first-look deal with rapper Iggy Azalea to create content designed to reach a millennial audience with topics ranging from social justice to empowering young women, and overall deals with Emmy-nominated producer and showrunner Aliyah Silverstein and with veteran television producer and showrunner Troy Vanderheyden.

Wilshire also recently announced it is developing an active crime investigation docu-series with Buzzfeed inspired by the investigative reporting of BuzzFeed News on Jessica Chambers, the Mississippi teen who was doused with gasoline and set on fire in December of 2014. Academy Award® nominated, two-time Emmy® and Peabody winner Joe Berlinger ("Brother's Keeper" and the "Paradise Lost Trilogy") is set to executive produce.
