Loyalties are tested in this week's episode of SUPERGIRL as Kara fights both CADMUS and her boss, Snapper Carr. With aliens being abducted from National City, the DEO is desperate to find a way to stop them, but Alex simply wants to be reunited with her father.

The scene opens with an adorable alien family driving through the countryside. When they're pulled over by a cop who offers help fixing their broken tail light, my friends all started yelling, "It's a trap!" A van arrives and the men pull the whole family into it.

At the DEO, Kara is worried about how many abductions have occurred since CADMUS got the alien registry. Winn says that Jeremiah Danvers may have taught them how to avoid their radars and J'onn officially declares him an enemy combatant. Kara is concerned that they can't issue a statement about what's happening without revealing the DEO, but realizes that she can get an article on the front page of CatCo at her day job.

Predictably, Snapper says that he won't publish her story with only one source. I have to admit, as a communications student, having at least two sources is a pretty standard rule. She offers him an interview with Supergirl, but he's skeptical. I loved the reference to "fake news" in this scene.

At the alien bar, Maggie reassures Alex about her dad. "I'm the only one left who believes in him," Alex tells her. Well, yes, but he did betray literally everyone in last week's episode. Winn, Lyra, and James are hanging out together and James is confused about why Winn isn't more into his alien girlfriend. He defends himself, "I know I generally fall like hard and fast for a girl, but I don't know. I listened to your advice and I'm going to take it slow." I love that while Winn is a generally upbeat character, it's clear that he's suffered heartbreak both with girls and his family; Jeremy Jordan brings a complexity to the character that I admire.

Men arrive at the bar to kidnap aliens, firing bullets into the crowd. Maggie and Alex immediately go to the rescue, but they're unable to save Lyra and Winn is upset. Back at t he DEO, he freaks out on Alex and threatens her, "If they hurt her, your father...I'm sorry..." It's clear that Winn truly cares despite all his "taking it slow" talk.

Alex beats up the guy from CADMUS that they captured and yells at him to tell her where their base is. J'onn arrives to take her away and gently reprimands her for losing her control. It's very clear that Alex's weakness is that her love for her family can make her do truly irrational things.

Snapper is dissatisfied with his interview with Supergirl as she's unwilling to reveal her source for knowing about CADMUS stealing the alien registry. Kara becomes very upset with him and tells him, "Innocent people will keep disappearing if you don't run this article." She storms out of the office, leaving me wondering as always, how Kara manages to spend so little time at CatCo and still keep her job...

Jeremiah shows up at Alex's apartment and asks her to leave to help him defeat CADMUS. He tells her that the aliens are in cells that can be used to kill them and he needs her help turning them off but that they have to work separately from the DEO. When Alex agrees to his plan, Jeremiah is revealed to be J'onn shapeshifting to test Alex. He's obviously disappointed in Alex and tells her that he's suspending her from duty because her feelings about her father make her a liability.

The real Jeremiah looks at Project Exodus with Lillian Luthor. Anyone else a bit creeped out when she told him, "This time, you're the only Superman we need?" Lyra, the alien family from the beginning, and the other aliens are being moved onto a strange sort of spaceship.

Alex and Maggie go to Kara to ask her to talk to J'onn on Alex's behalf. However, Kara tells her that she thinks J'onn was right even if she doesn't agree with his methods. She tells Alex that she's focusing entirely on their dad when she should be thinking about the aliens that they have to find. I agree with Kara 100% in that Alex has her priorities a bit messed up. However, Maggie agrees to do whatever they have to in order to protect Jeremiah.

Lena shows up at CatCo, but Kara forget they had lunch plans. I love Kara and Lena's friendship and I think it's so important to show positive female friendships on TV shows! Kara tells Lena that she's stressed because Snapper won't publish her article, so she suggests that she post it online on her own. "Imagine how many people you could reach instantly," she tells her. She also says that she'll see if she can help track down CADMUS with any of the equipment at L Corp.

However, back at her office, her secretary reveals to her mother that Lena has figured out that an old L Corp facility is still in use. Lillian tells the other woman that Lena "Just needs to be redirected."

Maggie and Alex show up to where CADMUS is kidnapping another alien. They manage to take out all of the guys, free the alien, and transfer all the data from the van's GPS. This allows Alex to find her way to CADMUS's headquarters. She shows up and Jeremiah shows her that he had the idea to deport the aliens instead of killing them on a spaceship he built. He explains that CADMUS always threatened him that they would kill Kara and Alex if he didn't cooperate. Alex fires back, "How could you think that we would want you to hurt others to protect us?"

Mon-El convinces Kara to post her blog about CADMUS, but they're interrupted by a phone call from Lena who has found something important. Kara overhears as guys hired by her mom enter her office and accidentally push her over the balcony. Luckily, Supergirl saves her and Lena reveals that she knows where CADMUS is.

Lillian insists that they have to launch the spaceship immediately because of Kara's blog post revealing them. Alex tells them to stop the launch as she has planted explosives all around and threatens to set them off. Jeremiah finally stands up to Lillian and demands that she hand over the override code, but she reveals that there isn't one. Alex decides to stop the launch from inside of the ship (a horrible idea, really) and runs to it as Hank Henshaw fights Jeremiah. Alex frees Lyra and some of the other aliens before going to the control room.

At the DEO, Winn, J'onn, and Mon-El are freaking out about a CADMUS launch. Alex calls them and says that it's the spaceship she's on, which will launch at light speed when it reaches a certain level of the atmosphere. Kara flies to the ship and struggles to slow it down and hold it back. There was a touching Danvers sisters moment as they faced each other through the glass of the windshield (can you call it that on a spaceship?).

When Kara arrives back at CatCo, everyone is avoiding her and she finds her desk already packed up. She tells Snapper that she was doing what she thought was right, but he tells her that she was just lucky that her source was legitimate. "You know what the worst part is?" he tells her, "I was rooting for you." This absolutely 100% broke my heart. I'm curious if they're going to phase CatCo (and James with it) out of the show now.

J'onn apologizes to Alex and tells her that he only was trying to protect her from getting hurt. He's clearly emotional and tells her, "But then I almost lost you in that ship anyway." They hug and he tells her that she can return to her job at the DEO. Honestly, Alex needs to remember that she has a father-figure who only wants to protect her and not shut J'onn out just because Jeremiah has (kind of) returned.

Mon-El shows up at Kara's door with Chinese food to comfort her. (Um, can someone find me a boyfriend who would bri ng me dumplings when I've had a bad day?) Mon-El reassures her that she'll find another job and reminds her that she is Supergirl, but she says that reporting is her calling. "When I write, I don't need a yellow sun; I'm just me," she tells him. I loved his advice to her: "You have so much to offer this world, so don't let Snapper or anyone else tell you differently."

This whirlwind episode ended with a shot of the people who have been searching for Mon-El reaching Earth. Anyone else wondering if they're his parents? The preview for next week revealed that Kara will finally learn that he is the prince of Daxam. Who else is excited for a Kara and Mon-El centered episode?? Don't forget to tune back in next week for another episode of SUPERGIRL and check back for my next recap.
