The much anticipated BROOKLYN NINE-NINE premiere has finally arrived! The first episode of season 2 finds Jake on the tail end of his undercover stint with the Inanucci crime family and the 99th precinct dealing with practice drills lead by Captain Holt. Keep reading for a full recap of the episode, but be warned there are SPOILERS ahead.

The episode begins with Jake undercover at a wedding of someone in the Ianucci mob family. Using his code word "Dry Meatballs" (of course) he calls in the 99 to arrest the mobsters. The operation is a success, and Jake is back at the 99th Precinct. Jake asks to speak to Amy alone, and she tells him she's still with Teddy. To recover, he tells her he didn't mean it when he said liked her. Meanwhile, the precinct is conducting practice drills with Terry is playing various characters. Gina tells Charles that he can't tell anyone, especially Jake, that they had sex. Charles realizes he will probably tell Jake within the day. Jake's undercover operation was a success, except one person got away. Jake asks to go back undercover, saying that the mob still trusts him because, "Once you Joel together, you're bonded for life." Jake, outfitted in a velvet tracksuit, enlists Charles to go undercover!

Charles and Jake are talking about the plan, but Charles is harping on and is jealous of Derek, Jake's mafia "best friend." Amy and Rosa finish a practice drill, just to find Terry starting another drill as a "7 year old boy" named Timmy. Jake is back undercover looking for Freddie, the guy who escaped. The bartender tells Jake that Freddie's girlfriend Bianca called, and he gave Jake her address. Charles comes in as NYPD and punches Jake as a part of the play.

Jake goes to visit Bianca--guest star Jenny Slate-- and she asks him if he's "Jake Lady Hands" or "Jake the Jew" and invites him in. Jake thinks she's getting him Frankie's address, but she actually pulls a gun on him, telling Jake she knows he's the rat. Bianca tells Jake to put his hands up, and confirms he is "Lady Hands." (Poor Jake). Jake uses his car clicker to signal Charles to come as back-up, but Charles has difficulty coming in as back-up, getting his gun locked in the car. Charles eventually comes in and backs up Jake, but not before asking Bianca about Derek. Back at the precinct, "Timmy," Amy, and Rosa are jumping in a bounce house until Captain Holt deflates it. Using a song he made to remember who in the mob is sleeping with who, Jake realizes Freddie is cheating with Bianca AND her younger sister. So, Bianca tells Jake that Freddie is going to the airport to flee.

Gina changes her spirit animal to a Naked Mole Rat from a Wolf because of the "horrible act" she did (sleeping with Charles). Captain Holt tells Terry that he is making them do all of these insane drills because there is going to be a new commissioner and he is nervous because no one is telling him anything and he wants everything to go well.

Jake and Charles get to the airport to find out Freddie's plane left an hour ago. Jake is upset that he let Freddie get away. Charles is trying to cheer him up, but ruins the surprise party the 99 was planning for him in typical Boyle fashion. Captain Holt gives a "compelling" speech and tells Jake he's proud of him (Awwww). Jake tells Amy that what he said to her before he went undercover was actually real, and he was lying earlier in the day. Amy tells Jake, "I'm with someone, nothing's going to happen," which unsurprisingly Jake tells her is the name of her sex-tape (good 'ol Jake). Boyle tells Gina that he hasn't told Jake because he doesn't want to hurt her feelings because he's terrified of her, but they wake up in bed together, AGAIN!

This was a great premiere episode filled with classic B99 moments. However, I am looking forward to Jake being back full-time at the precinct with the undercover stint behind him, because for me the funniest moments are when they're all together. I am also very interested to see if Gina and Boyle become a thing, or if this is going to be a constant cycle of bad decisions!

On next week's episode "Chocolate Milk" Kyra Sedgwick guest stars as Captain Holt's archenemy, Deputy Chief Madeline Wuntch. Leave your comments on tonights episode below, or tweet me @k8linmilligan! And make sure to check back in next week as I live recap episode 2!
