ABC's GMA Continues Year-to-Year Growth in Key Demos

ABC News' "Good Morning America" ranked as the No. 1 morning program in Total Viewers (5.724 million) and Adults 25-54 (2.310 million) for the week of January 13, 2014, according to Nielsen Media Research. "GMA" beat NBC's "Today" (5.054 million and 2.153 million, respectively) during the week by 670,000 million Total Viewers and by 157,000 Adults 25-54. "GMA" increased its Total Viewer lead over NBC's "Today" by 34% versus its year-ago lead (501,000 on w/o 1/14/13). Additionally, GoodMorningAmerica.com on Yahoo! reached almost 20 million users last month.

"GMA" has ranked No. 1 every week in Total Viewers for 18 months (the last 74 weeks - since w/o 8/13/12). "GMA's" 74-consecutive weeks at the top represent its longest stretch at No. 1 in more than 22 years - since before the 1991-92 season; Nielsen's electronic database started in September 1991.

In addition, "GMA" has ranked No. 1 in Adults 25-54 in 16 of the 17 weeks of the season. "GMA" saw its best single-day Adults 25-54 telecast on Tuesday (2.520 million - 1/14/14) in nearly 3 years (since 4/29/11 - the royal wedding) and 2nd-best in nearly 5 years (since 2/23/09).

For the 3rd straight week, "GMA" posted year-to-year gains (5.242 million, 1.982 million and 1.436 million, respectively, on w/o 1/14/13) across all key target demos: Total Viewers (+9%), Adults 25-54 (+17%) and Adults 18-49 (+9%). In addition, "GMA" improved the most on the year-ago week in Adults 25-54 (+17%; +328,000) compared to "CBS This Morning" (+1%; +7,000) and NBC's "Today" (+6%; +117,000). In fact, "GMA's" year-to-year Adults 25-54 improvement (+328,000) more than doubled (+165%) the combined year-to-year news demo improvement (+124,000) of both CBS (+7,000) and NBC (+117,000).

Season to date, "GMA" stands as the No. 1 morning news program for the 2nd-straight year in both Total Viewers and Adults 25-54. "GMA" is leading NBC's "Today" by 745,000 Total Viewers and 100,000 Adults 25-54. In fact, "GMA" has widened its season margins over "Today" versus the same point last season in Total Viewers by 48% (750,000 vs. 505,000) and in Adults 25-54 by 37% (100,000 vs. 73,000). Further, "GMA" is posting its largest Total Viewer season margin in more than 22 years and biggest in Adults 25-54 in 22 years- since at least the 1991-92 season (Nielsen's electronic database started on September of 1991) and the 1991-92 season, respectively.

Growing for the 3rd year in a row, "GMA" is up by double-digits over the same point last season in both Total Viewers (+13%) and Adults 25-54 (+12%). In fact, "GMA" is seeing its largest overall season audience in more than 22 years and best Adults 25-54 performance in 8 years - since before the 1991-92 season and the 2005-06 seasons, respectively.

During the week, "GMA" nearly doubled the performance of "CBS This Morning" in Total Viewers (+90%), while more than doubling in Adults 25-54 (+119%) and Adults 18-49 (+109%).
