Opposite original competition from a golf-led CBS' "Big Brother," Fox's "2015 Teen Choice Awards" and NBC's Ed Sheeran concert special, ABC's "Bachelor in Paradise" was up for the 2nd straight Sunday in Total Viewers (+5% - 4.0 million vs. 3.8 million) and Adults 18-49 (+8% - 1.3/4 vs. 1.2/4) hitting a high on the night. The ABC unscripted series shot up 63% over its Adult 18-49 lead-in at 8:00 p.m. and built from its first hour to its second hour (+8%) to rank No. 1 from 9:00-10:00 p.m. In addition, the show was No. 1 in its 2-hour slot with Adults 18-34 and across all key Women demos (W18-34/W18-49/W25-54), while tying "Big Brother" as Sunday's top-rated program in Women 18-34.
"Bachelor in Paradise" once again improved its 2-hour time period by double digits year to year for ABC, spiking 63% in Adults 18-49 from the year-ago night with original programming ("Wipeout"/"Rising Star" = 0.8/3 on 8/17/14). After 3 days of TV playback, last Sunday's telecast of "Bachelor in Paradise" grew to a 1.8 rating among Adults 18-49 (from a 1.2 rating in L+SD), topping its week-earlier premiere by 13%. The 50% jump for "Bachelor in Paradise" matches the largest L+3 playback increase for any unscripted broadcast series telecast so far this summer.
