Producer Duo Breakfast N Vegas Announces Debut Album 'Trapical'

The powerhouse producer duo Breakfast N Vegas are visionaries, pioneering sounds that takes genre bending to a whole new level with their debut album Trapical. They have created tropical-tinged urban sounds and anthems for this generation of culturally blended youth with a mix of Afro-Caribbean beats, house music, trap, and intertwining Spanish and English. Breakfast N Vegas is due to drop their debut album Trapical in April with tastemaker label EMPIRE!

Breakfast N Vegas is the powerhouse producer duo comprised of music industry veteran, commercial radio and syndicated mix show producer DJ Yonny (Heavy Hitter DJ, Remix credits include Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Major Lazer to name a few) and music industry veteran producer and engineer Curtis Austin (The Chainsmokers, Emily Warren and more). Honing their musical chops in the clubs as DJs, Breakfast N Vegas was born from the dream to create a new lane that was nurtured in the clubs of NYC and LA. DJ Yonny grew up listening to music from his parents' home country of Colombia and also jamming to the hits on the radio and early underground house music. He naturally foraged new sounds supported by the next generation of multi-cultural club kids. With the help of the talented Curtis Austin they have sought after the intersections of Latin music, underground styling of hip hop, and house music to pioneer the tropical-tinged urban sounds. A diversity of sounds, that you can only find this intersection of cultures while eating breakfast in Las Vegas.

Breakfast N Vegas explains, "Nine times out of ten when you are eating breakfast on the Vegas strip, it is one of the only places in the world can you take a second to look around you and you are literally eating with people from all around the world, you see different cultures, different backgrounds and hear different languages. That is the visual aspect we replicate with our music. We break bread with people and explore their music stylings from all around the world from Africa to Europe, all over the Caribbean and to South America, Mexico even the Canada."

When DJ Yonny and Curtis Austin decided to relocate from NYC to LA and launch Breakfast N Vegas, they had a dream to build something new from the ground up. They opened their studio in the heart of Hollywood and invited all of their friends, colleagues and musicians they admired to record new music. Looking to education themselves on the various styling of music and culture, they approach each song with a fresh approach. "Majority of the songs are created from scratch with artist in the room. We'd talk about what's moving them at the moment and they'll play songs, we played song and we'll get into a groove. Being DJs, we are accustomed to reading a crowd and we can tell if the song is working or not working, so with that mentality in the studio and having the artist in there with us creating the song we can see how they react to a melody or a choir progression or an instrument. It's very cool to see the outcome cuz the music is organic we're trying to create something original. This is the type of music where, in music right now, this is what feels good, right now in this moment."

They created about 15 or 16 songs over the course of 2 years, but ended up giving many of those tracks to the featured artists. A few notable tracks came from those sessions including - Dounia "If U Wanna", Kehlani and Dounia "Rich Girl Mood." But they locked into their sound which they found when they exploded onto the scene with the viral hit "Give it Up" ft. Bad Bunny, Tory Lane, Messiah, and Dimalo.

For Breakfast n Vegas the story of "Give it Up" is bittersweet and almost never came to fruition. It was originally written for a friend of duo a rapper from Connecticut, Dimalo. Dimalo recorded the hook with Tory Lane and soon after, out of nowhere Dimalo was shot and killed. It took a while to recover from the loss of their friend, and it was a Dominican artist named Messiah who revived the track and add on at the time an unknown artist Bad Bunny to the song. Pioneering the lane of Latin music mixed with trap they saw immediate success with Apple Beats 1 DJ Ebro support. There was still some hesitation from the mainstream Hip-Hop and Latin radio stations, but soon Bad Bunny took the industry by storm and Tory Lane hit commercial success paving the way for viral success of one of the first bi-lingual tracks to be played on both Latin and Hip-Hop commercial radio. So far "Give it Up" has garnered over 28 Million streams and solidified the producer's creative ambitions.

This April they will be releasing their debut album Trapical. Recorded entirely at their studio in Hollywood, Trapical will be released with tastemaker EMPIRE. Known for breaking the industry mold, EMPIRE have become the leading independent record label with signed acts like JON Z, Tyga, Tego Calder'n, xxtentancion and Breakfast N Vegas.

Trapical is 10 tracks deep stacked with a range of talent from well-known to emerging including Fuego, Jhoni The Voice, Los Rakas, RioLoz, Andrew Merritt, and Karen S. Standouts include lead single "Ahora Sabes" ft. RioLoz which has already amassed 150K + streams and with a video due to drop later this month. "Ahora Sabes" features emerging artist and lyrists RioLoz who was urged by the producers to rap in Spanish, originally from Colombia, RioLoz fluent in both Spanish and English, but only ever spit in English. He brings it strong in both languages that delivers a hard-hitting flow highlighting his lyrical prowess.

Another highlight is "Gitana" Ft. Dominican artist Jhoni the Voice. The track as Breakfast N Vegas describes, "It's really who we are as an Afro-Latin production duo. It captures, musically, the essence and aspiration we have to bridge the African and the Latin worlds together on one song."

"Check Yuh Flex" ft. Grooveutv and Jhoni The Voice due to be released later this month, Breakfast N Vegas comments, "Check Yuh Flex leans more into Afro-Caribbean beats which is what we are going for sonically." "We want to showcase our different sounds with this new album" comments DJ Yonny, "And appeal to this new generation of kids who like us grew up listening to music from Latin America, and the radio hits, and the underground stuff. That is how we came up with Trapical, fusing together trap with Afro-Caribbean beats and mixing Spanish and English." Curtis adds "We wanted to create something that moves people in the club, to bring motion and feeling to each song."

Reflecting back Breakfast N Vegas is very excited to release the debut album. "The sounds that we created, the tropical sounds are evolving and will continue to evolve, we are adding in more electronic and club sounds. We want to be able to do it our way and create our own lane."

Breakfast N Vegas will be supporting the new release with a few club dates throughout LA. Always DJs at heart, their shows will reflect the energy and emotions of the crowd, moving them to their current hits and new music. They have performed at premier clubs including a residency at Hakkasan in Las Vegas, Hard Rock Caf', Latin Grammy's Spotify showcase where they performed along side J Balvin and Daddy Yankee.
