The Greenwich Village music venue (Le) Poisson Rouge has announced a partnership with the Cambridge, MA-based streaming company Concert Window. The partnership, which began in April 2011, brings live streaming concerts in HD, with multiple cameras, to any computer in the world weekly. The lineup of artists who have been utilizing the streaming service from (Le) Poisson rouge have included Best Coast, Those Darlins, Thurston Moore, Ensemble ACJW, Wild Beasts, and many others. "Live streaming allows listeners to experience the spontaneity of a live concert from around the world," says LPR co-founder Justin Kantor. "This is what makes the concept so appealing, this is particularly true when the quality is there to really be able to enjoy it."

The agreement brings the diverse and quality programming LPR has become famous for to people all over the country at no cost to viewers. "We're thrilled to embark on a webcasting enterprise with (Le) Poisson Rouge," said Dan Gurney, president and CTO of Concert Window. "People who have tuned into our test webcasts from LPR have told us they've never seen live, online video that looks this sharp. We're looking forward to bringing these webcasts to a larger audience."

The performances, utilizing the sound system that makes (Le) Poisson Rouge one of the best places in NYC to see live music, stream live board audio parallel to the two-camera shoot. These streams with high quality audio aim to alleviate the boredom of the infrequent single camera streams, with little attention paid to audio quality, that viewers are used to right now. "The future of the music industry really does lie in harnessing the power of live performance," said Forrest O'Connor, CEO of Concert Window. "Our vision is to cultivate a community of viewers who love live music but don't have easy or regular access to great venues."

(Le) Poisson Rouge hopes the service does just that, brings high quality performances from artists that don't tour regularly, or larger acts that can't get everywhere, to audiences all over the world. The interface used is an embeddable player making simul-broadcasts of the streams easy and useful for many publications as well, helping to truly make streams from LPR worldwide viewing experiences. Partnerships such as the Flavorpill co-stream of the Best Coast benefit performance in June for the LPR Anniversary week or more niche performances like the InDigest co-stream of Literary Death Match NYC are already showing that this service is in demand and a valuable asset in the ever-changing landscape of the music business.
