Joji Shares Acoustic Remix of SLOW DANCING IN THE DARK, BALLADS 1 Out Next Friday

After releasing "SLOW DANCING IN THE DARK" last month and seeing it continue to place on the Spotify Global and US Viral Charts (#3 and #2, respectively) with 34 million streams and counting, Joji, the multi-talented visionary with a cult following from every corner of the internet, returns today to share an acoustic remix of the track from BALLADS 1 ahead of its release next Friday, October 26th via 88rising. Click here to listen to the acoustic remix of "SLOW DANCING IN THE DARK" and watch the Jared Hogan-directed video for the original version of the song here.

Speaking on the remix, Joji says, "It felt right to make this version. I wanted to see what the song would sound like in a different setting." The original version of the song was produced by Joji and produced in collaboration with Chairlift's Patrick Wimberly (production credits include Beyonce, Solange, MGMT, among others), "SLOW DANCING IN THE DARK" is Joji's take on the ultimate power ballad / torch song. Performed for the first time in May 2018 at Blurry Visions festival in Oakland, CA, "SLOW DANCING IN THE DARK" is one of Joji's most successful singles to date, having the song go to #27 on Spotify's US Top 50, #2 on YouTube Trending, #2 on Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100, #2 on iTunes R&B as well as racking up 34 million Spotify streams in a little over a month. The track was released in tandem with a music video directed by Jared Hogan, who previously directed the video for Joji's "Demons," which was awarded both a Vimeo 'Staff Pick' and a Nowness 'Picks' award, instantly garnering praise from the acclaimed Japanese visual artist Takashi Murakami.

A master of multiple mediums, Joji is the Osaka, Japan-born singer and producer capturing a following from every corner of the Internet. The multi-talented visionary defies convention -- his songs are characterized by down tempo, melancholic themes and soulful vocals, layered over lush grimy textures, blending elements of trap, folk, electronic, and R&B. Featured everywhere from Nylon to Billboard to VICE News (HBO) to Hypebeast and beyond, Joji is one of the most interesting and promising new artists in the digital age.

BALLADS 1 is a collection of ballads and songs dedicated to the theme of change. Each song deals with the struggle of change - leaving toxic environments, grappling with temptations, or refusing to change. The album is told from multiple perspectives, based on both people in Joji's life and imagined. BALLADS 1 also reflects Joji's evolution as an artist since the release of his debut EP In Tongues in November 2017. Through the recording process, Joji has unlocked an ambitious new sound and style that's uniquely his own. The album is predominantly self- produced, yet features notable collaborations with producers Shlohmo, Clams Casino, RL Grime, Patrick Wimberly, and Jam City. BALLADS 1 also sees Joji and Trippie Redd follow up on their "18" collaboration from earlier this year with a highly anticipated new song called "R.I.P."

BALLADS 1 is now available to pre-order. Full tracklisting and album art can be found below.
